Our event is about hanging out and relaxing with your hounds amongst the beautiful lakes and gorges of central New York. Greyhounds are welcome at all our participating wineries and hotels.  Photo by Balance Photography.

We tell folks that the walk to Taughannock Falls on Sunday morning is worth your trip to New York by itself.  It is a spectacular, beautiful and easy one mile walk each way -- through a 400 foot deep gorge cut through rock --  to the 215 foot waterfall, tallest in the northeast.  Get your portrait taken with your hound(s) at the Falls!

The Grapehound Wine Tour®

Grapehounds was designed to be an event where you can be as busy or as relaxed as you would like to be.  We don't have speakers, because we're in fun mode at this event.  No event has more opportunity for just pulling up a comfy lawn chair and hanging out with your hound and a glass of wine.  Of course our hounds can be very stylish...

The walk to 215 foot Taughannock Falls on Sunday has been a featured part of our New York Grapehounds event for eleven years.  This year it will be held on Sunday (7/29) at 10AM.  Photo by Rally Pagulyan.

Draft Schedule for 2018

Keep in mind that this event does not herd you into a narrow schedule.  You can make this a week long vacation, or a busy weekend.  Arrive when you want, taste wine or beer or spirits where you want, and go where you want.  We offer wine tasting, music, food offerings, a Blessing of the Hounds, a Walk to the Falls, and much much more.   It's your choice.

Friday July 27, 2018

  • 10AM  This year we are going to be hosted bythe Firehouse, home of Lost Kingdom Brewery and Firehouse Tap Room in Ovid, NY.  They also sell various wines from local wineries.  Ovid is about halfway up the east shore of the lake from Watkins Glen, so it is almost equally convenient for those staying near Watkins Glen and those staying in Geneva or Seneca Falls.   We'll have the Little Red Wagon for food offerings on Friday and Saturday.  The vendor tents will open about 10 AM on Friday morning.  (Vendor set-up takes place 7:30AM-10 AM in Ovid.)   You may enjoy your beverages in our social area at the main event.   Vendors are open all day.

  • Parking  We have scheduled addition parking at local facilities so check the E-Booklet for details.

  • 6-9PM  Every Friday evening during our event we have a musical concert under the stars with a theme.  Two year's ago, the theme was Woodstock and people loved it.  Last year the theme was music from the 1970's including rock, disco and more.  This year we will have a wide survery of top hits selected by our DJ from the 60's, 70's, and 80's.  Bring your dancin' shoes!  The music will include a lot of the great sounds from those decades, and we'll also take your special requests.  We will also auction off a few special items donated to the event about 7PM.  It's always a hoot.

Saturday July 28,  2018

We believe that the walk to Taughannock Falls with your greyhound is worth the trip to NY by itself.  It is spectacular.
